Dog of the Month - Chachi
Meet our Dog of the Month - Chachi!
I had the pleasure of photographing this big boy in my Boulder studio recently and had such a great time with him. He was super smart and engaged in whatever I asked of him and he was a bit of clown, making us laugh!
Here is what his parents have to say about him:
“Chachi will turn five this June, but he’s been stealing hearts since day one. His journey with us began when we were looking for a companion for Heidi, our 3.5-year-old rescue who had spent her early years as a puppy mill mom in South Dakota. After losing our beloved chocolate lab, Phoebe Cakes, we knew Heidi needed a friend. That’s when we met a litter of lab puppies —and one special pup, the runt of the litter, chose us.
Originally named Tiny Tim, Chachi may have been the smallest, but he was always the first—first to open his eyes, first to escape the whelping pen, and first to dive into dry food. A born troublemaker with an adventurous spirit, he had confidence from the start. With a chocolate lab mother and a silver lab father, his striking charcoal coat inspired his name: Chachi Charcola.
The moment he came home, he and Heidi formed an unbreakable bond. His cool and confident personality helped Heidi transform from a timid and anxious rescue into the sweet and loving dog she is today. His Mom and I joke that Chachi is the Lenny Kravitz of dogs—bold, magnetic, and effortlessly cool.
Chachi’s favorite pastimes include rolling in the grass or snow, getting belly rubs, enjoying lots of treats, and, most of all, meeting new people. He also has a full-time job accompanying me to work, where he’s a local celebrity among my patients. Every day, he greets visitors at the door and personally escorts them to their treatment rooms because nothing makes you feel better than a Chachi welcome.
Confident, charming, and always up for an adventure, Chachi may be our "little guy," but at 115 lbs, he carries the biggest heart. He’s a gentle giant, overflowing with love, and he means more to us than we ever could have imagined.”
